Representsreboot (Q1343020)
Data typeQuantity
Allowed valuesnumbers
Example 1CatDog (Q150529) → 2
Example 2DC Universe (Q1152150) → 2
Example 3ThunderCats (Q21706035) → 2
Planned useFor starters, I'll correct Q150529 which is trying to use P2437 for this
Expected completenessalways incomplete (Q21873886)

Motivation[edit]

It seems like a useful piece of information. A lot of TV shows and comic series get rebooted, so we should store this information somehow. CatDog (Q150529) tried to express this idea in number of seasons (P2437) which doesn't seem right.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gregory david baker (talk • contribs) at 05:12, 4 September 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Discussion[edit]

  •  Comment You could use several statements with significant event (P793)=reboot (Q1343020) and qualify each with statement is subject of (P805) to link to the relevant episode. --- Jura 05:36, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Oppose. One should probably follow the way described by Jura1. Thierry Caro (talk) 05:45, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Oppose The proper way to handle this is to use our existing properties that establish "lineage" or "ancestry" (which we do not have subclassed as "Wikidata property related to lineage" but probably should). based on (P144) is the most generic and highest level and what you are probably looking for, otherwise create the media franchise (P8345) item and then use that property on each season, or episode, or however deep you wish to go. But if you are looking at making it easy to query and count the number of things in a fictional universe...an alternative way is to create the fictional universe (along with the media franchise if necessary) and then use those fictional universe properties to make statements linking the seasons, episodes, etc. to that one common fictional universe. Here is my representational view of a reduced set of properties (non-comprehensive) that portray some aspect of "lineage" around media.
	based on P144
		media franchise P8345
			part of the series P179
			after a work by P1877
			modified version of P5059
			incarnation of P3701
			from narrative universe P1080
takes place in fictional universe P1434
			fictional universe described in P1445
