Motivation[edit]
Rivers have different names in their upper courses and this is the way how to define (and find) main watercourse determined on the basis of hydrological criteria (river lenght, catchment area, discharge). -xfi- (talk) 20:57, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

- @Thierry Caro: Main upper course is subproperty of tributary (P974). I understand that is possible to use qualifier object has role (P3831) & item „main upper course“ with qualifier criterion used (P1013) & length (Q36253) (or discharge (Q8737769)). But great rivers have many tributaries and often only one, or two main upper courses. So with this property it should be well arranged and uncluttered. ---xfi- (talk) 18:45, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
Oppose I am not convinced, I dont see the problem of using the qualifier on tributary (P974). What exact problem do you want to solve here? Also, there is still the property follows (P155) if you really need a high level property (and also replaces (P1365) even though that does not seem to be correct here). I think either using the qualifier or possibly expanding the definition of follows (P155) should be sufficient. --Hannes Röst (talk) 13:35, 25 June 2021 (UTC)
