Motivation[edit]
It would help modeling the translation/conversion of dates from a gregorian date to another calendar date. In other words, would be alike said to be the same as (P460) but only for different calendar dates. Bouzinac (talk) 21:55, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Oppose to avoid the further creation of hundreds of thousands of items for even the slightest variation between calendars. - With the aliases system, you cannot query what was the date xx/xx/xxxx in other calendar than gregorian. I just wish there is a way to query that the point in time (P585) for Storming of the Bastille (Q6539) was in xx/xx/xxxx for Jewish calendar, for instance. Wikidata should be transcultural. There may be variation of dates among calendar and each date is a single item (that date in muslim calendar was in month XX, was a muslim Saturday, etc.). Perhaps a property single text per calendar would be more feasible (property for iranian calendar, property for jewish calendar etc). Bouzinac (talk) 10:41, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
