Motivation[edit]
Some notable individuals have contributed to OpenStreetMap. This identifier would make it easier to access their contributions to the project. Like Twitter (X) username (P2002), an OpenStreetMap user can change their user name at any time. This property would need to be qualified with a Wikidata:Property proposal/OpenStreetMap numeric user ID property similar to X numeric user ID (P6552) that uniquely, permanently identifies the user. (OpenStreetMap also assigns a numeric user identifier to each user.) – Minh Nguyễn 💬 19:15, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose If OpenStreetMap numeric user ID is the stable one, use that and the username with website username or ID (P554) as qualifier there. --- Jura 09:36, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose I agree with Jura. I don't think the way we did twitter is a good precedent to follow. ArthurPSmith (talk) 14:55, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Jura1, ArthurPSmith: Unfortunately, it's fairly difficult to work with a numeric user ID: there's nothing human-facing to link to as far as I can tell. By contrast, the user name is what people normally use to look up a user profile or contribution list on the OpenStreetMap website. But I was unaware of the possibility of website account on (P553) qualified by website username or ID (P554). Is there still a need for dedicated external identifiers for user accounts anymore, or is that a historical artifact from before website account on (P553) became established? – Minh Nguyễn 💬 21:26, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- Well, if nothing can be done with the numeric id, we probably shouldn't have a property for it in the first place. --- Jura 11:21, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
- It can be used with the OpenStreetMap API and some third-party human-facing tools, just not a human-facing page on openstreetmap.org itself. But website account on (P553) is looking more and more attractive to me; it should be usable with Sophox SPARQL queries already. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 17:54, 14 July 2020 (UTC)

- Comment This needs instance of (P31)property that may violate privacy (Q44601380) because it shows the exact locations of edits a person makes. —Dexxor (talk) 07:16, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose as per Jura's argument for website username or ID (P554) --CamelCaseNick (talk) 16:17, 22 August 2020 (UTC)
