Planned useI am currently starting in a project of adding exonerated of (P7781) to items where it applies. In cases where the exonerated person is in the United States, I'd like to be able to use the ID to link to their entry in the registry. The registry contains more data and sometimes a better article than the one in Wikipedia.
Number of IDs in source2641
Expected completenessalways incomplete (Q21873886)

Robot and gadget jobsIt's possible that some work could be done by bots, but given the sensitive nature of criminal justice conviction data, I think it's most likely that a collected-by-bot, vetted-by-human would be the most appropriate. I think that having the identifier linked here would at least open the door to having a bot mine some details from the registry.

Motivation[edit]

In 2019, I proposed the exonerated of (P7781) property to represent information about people found not to be guilty of a crime after sentencing. Although the property was approved a few months ago, I'm only now getting around to put the property to work. When I proposed the property, I was not aware of the registry of exonerations; now that I know of it, I'm finding it to be an important source of reliable data and want to get links in place where appropriate. In practice, I'm using it as a ref url frequently, but in the spirit of linked data, I think that a structured data identifier would be an appropriate way thing to add.
