Motivation[edit]
Currently there is no easy way to link to the extremely detailed information on the Swiss Inventory of historical ways Switzerland (IVS) which contains information for bridges, streets and ways used historically. The identifier is unique and links directly to further information, with a map and a REST API available: https://www.astra.admin.ch/astra/de/home/fachleute/weitere-bereiche/geoinformation/geobasisdaten/historische-verkehrswege.html to query the data. This would allow us to link hundreds / thousands of such identifiers with very well curated source material and further information. These could also be used in the bridges infoboxes on multiple Wikipedia projects. Hannes Röst (talk) 16:11, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
Discussion[edit]
- Support with an open question for you--the PDF documents at the formatter URI have a different identifier format than what you have proposed (i.e. fixed-width identifier in the filename of the PDF documents). Which format is the original/official one? --Dhx1 (talk) 15:02, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
- Not sure I understand your question, but yes essentially the PDF identifiers are fixed width, for example TG02000101 stands for identifier 200.1.1 which gets translated into XXXXYYZZ where XXXX = 0200, YY = 01 and ZZ = 01. Same for TG00050402 where XXX = 0005, YY = 04 and ZZ = 02 which yields 5.4.2. So from the PDF padded formatter its always possible to compute the official numbering system. Does that answer your question? --Hannes Röst (talk) 13:17, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
